Max Verstappen has clearly stated that if planned rule changes for next year are blocked, he will not continue in Formula 1. He had hoped that improvements to make the cars better for 2027 would allow him to enjoy F1 more. However, there is opposition to hardware changes for 2027, with some manufacturers preferring to delay major redesign until 2028. Verstappen finds it mentally challenging to continue racing with the cars as they are and is unwilling to wait until 2028 for significant changes. He hopes the FIA remains firm and pushes through necessary changes for the sport’s improvement, as suggested by Carlos Sainz.
